ARSENAL HOPES TO GUNDOWN THE KOP AT ANFIELD

Anfield ground, Liverpool

IT was quite a long five seasons, Arsenal came out empty handed without winning a single trophy. Since the great `Invincible Sides' with the likes of Thiery Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Robert Pires, Patrick Viera and Freddie Lundberg, Arsenal fails to
continue and made any impact in the league regards by some as `The Greatest Football League in the World'.

Starting today, Arsenal continues from where they left off after finishing third in the league last season. The  fans can't just wait to watch and witness once again and give their fullest support to their favourite team ready to do battle in the Premier League in the new season.

Back to their old traditional red and white round neck jersey in the 70's, lets hopes that this could eventually  saw a change of misfortune as a signal of a new era towards Arsenal football history, back again to where they should belong.

For Arsene Wenger, who just renewed his contract until 2014 at the Emirates  (his 14th) seasons in charge  knew his side cannot afford to make anymore excuses but they need to deliver and give back to the fans their thirsts and hunger for success that have been missing after so many years.

Starting today, Arsenal open up their new season by visiting Anfield facing under achiever Liverpool with their new manager Roy Hodgson. But for the past two season Arsenal records playing at Anfield has been kind towards them with a 4-4 draw and 2-1 win in their last encounter.

New signings, striker Maroune Chamakh from Bordeaux has been quite

impressive during the Emirates Cup and defender Laurent Koncielny from French Ligue could be the main focus in today's match. Diminutive Andre Arshavin who has never fails to score at this ground since joining Arsenal producing some great and memorable goals. Surely Arsene Wenger will be banking on the Russian to have another crack at them.

While captain Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie still short on match fitness after their World Cup assignment with their respected countries they will unlikely to start today including Nicklas Bendtner, Johan Djorou, Alexander Song and Abou Diaby to injury. With players such as Tomas Rosicky, Samir Nasri, Theo Wallcot, Jack Wilshere and Kiearan Gibbs are looking in good shape during the pre-season build-up, Arsene Wenger is able to field his strongest side today and make a good start in the Premier League.
