ARSENAL gave another shabby display to sneak past League One side Huddersfield 2-1 at the Emirates in the FA Cup 4th round tie yesterday. Nicklas Bendtner deflected shot in the 21st minute gave the Gunners a 1-0 lead. Alan Lee level the tie at 1-1 for Huddersfield in the 66th minute before Cesc Fabregas seals Arsenal win from the spot four minutes from time.
Arsenal seems favourites to book their place in the 5th round before the match but took a jolt with another indifferent of form. Lately, Arsene Wenger side struggles against lower league sides such as Leeds and Ipswich. Squandering huge numbers of opportunities they just fail to find the net. The home side must thanks their lucky star when Nicklas Bendtner effort was deflected by Huddersfield's skipper Peter Clarke into the goal.
With four minutes before the break, Arsenal were down to 10 men when defender Sebastian Squillachi was given a red by referee Mark Clattenburgh for obstructing Jack Hunt.
In the second half Huddersfield began to push forward and they were rewarded when striker Alan Lee thumping header from Pilkington corner went past goalkeeper Almunia stunned the Emirates.
Substitute Cesc Fabregas then converted from the spot when Bendtner was hauled down by Jamie McCombe in the box. Their fifth round opponent is against another lower league opposition Leyton-Orient.
