ARSENAL Champions League chances took a jolt when they suffered another shock 2-0 away defeat to FC Braga in their Group H match at the Estadio Municipal De Braga last night. Two goals by Brazilian's Matheus in the last seven minutes saw Braga level on points but remain third in the standings.
But still, Arsenal had the home ground advantage in their last match against winless Partizan Belgrade with the Bulgarian club side is already out of contention. A win at the Emirates will assured the Gunners the passage through for the second spot in the knockout stages.
Earlier Arsenal claims for a penalty when substitute Carlos Vela was hacked down by a Sporting Braga defender in the box but the referee Viktor Kassai ignored the call instead he flashed out a yellow card for diving to the Mexican.
Arsene Wenger made six changes to his side that lost to Spurs on Saturday looks to be in control and had more of the possession. But during the last 10 minutes Braga began to looks more dangerous on the attack that brought the Gunners downfall.
For Arsenal their defeat became much worse losing their captain Cesc Fabregas and defender Emanuelle Eboue through injury. Samir Nasri came in for Fabregas in the 63rd minute after the Spaniard signal to the bench for an immediate change.
Arsenal were down to 10 men when Eboue suffered a serious knee injury in the 80th minute with the visitor already made used of their three substitutions. Domingos Paciencia's side quick took full advantage of the shortcoming and they were rewarded with the opening goal through Matheus.
The Brazilian beat the offside trap and gleefully tucked in the ball past the onrushing Fabianski in the 83rd minute. Late in the match the striker got his second of the night with a beauty when he beat three Arsenal defenders before hitting past Fabianski.
