ANDY CAROLL GUNNER DOWN 1-0

NEWCASTLE UNITED notch a memorable triumph at the Emirates with a shocking 1-0 win against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last night.

Striker Andy Caroll was the toast of the Magpies when he scored a terrific header for his sixth Premier League goals late in the first half to stun the Emirates for their second-home defeat.

One thing for sure it was Newcastle great team effort was their key to their success and the belief they build up from their 5-1 thrashing of Sunderland seven days earlier was the perfect tonic they needs to launch them up to the fifth spot in the Premier League table.

Praise for Chris Hughton the Magpies are in place for Europe and the Toons Army with no doubt could create even more great results in the coming fixtures with this kind of display. Everybody played to their role very well with Cheik Tiote outstanding in midfield together with Joey Barton looking so calm, Kevin Nolan and Shola Amoebi with the supporting role the team deserved the points, even shading possession, quite an accomplishment against Arsenal.

With central defenders Mike Williamson and Fabricio Coloccini shackled Marouane Chamakh not to mention Guiteress combines well with Martinez on the left. While Danny Simpson outstanding on the right and Tim Krul kept a clean sheet, making one wonderful save in the first half from Samir Nasri.

Nasri's right footer from the edge of the area, struck it first time from a Cesc Fabregas pass, appeared to be swerving into the top corner until the Dutch keeper unfurled his long frame and clawed it away with his right hand. Then came the winning goal. Joey Barton float in a free-kick inside the box which saw the rugged striker hung himself in the air was first  to beat Fabianski for the ball and calmly  headed into the gaping goalmouth just seconds before the break.

Twice the the woodwork saved Krul. First a Fabregas free-kick took a deflection which whipped it over his head and on to the bar. Theo Walcott also rattled the bar after the break when Jack Wilshere created the move. It was as close as Arsenal would come.

Desperate Arsene Wenger send in Andre Arshavin for Samir Nasri and later introduce Robin Van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner but the substitution fails to prise open and have any serious threat towards the visitor's defence.

Fabregas planted a diving header straight at Krul and Andrey Arshavin, dropped from the starting line-up for the first time this season, went close after Carroll had been caught in possession deep in his half.

Wenger's frustrations were complete when referee Mike Dean produced his first red card of the season to dismiss Laurent Koscielny in stoppage time. Substitute Nile Ranger replace Amoebi beat Koscielny to the ball, wriggled around him and fell as the defender tried to haul him back. To decide it was a clear goalscoring opportunity seemed unfair but this was just not the Arsenal's day.
