WIGAN HELD ARSENAL 2-2

ARSENAL wasted a great chance to move at the top of the table after they were held by gritty 10-man Wigan Athletic 2-2 at last night. The Gunners looks set to secure the three points when N'Zobia were send off after headbutting Jack Wilshere with the Latics trailing by 2-1.

But with nine minutes left, from a corner kick Hugo Rodellga rose high to nod back the ball from the far post over Lukasz Fabianski. Arsenal defender Sebastien Squillachi pressure by Gary Cadwell awkwardly headed the ball into his own net was enough for Roberto Martinez men to steal a point.

Wigan made a bright start into the match with Hugo Rodellga and N'Zobia combines well to put enormous pressure towards the Arsenal defence.

The home side shocked the visitor when they took the lead in the 17th minute when referee Lee Robert penalise Laurent Koncielny for bringing down N'Zobia. Midfielder Watson then easily coolly converted from the spot.

Six minutes before the break Arsenal were back on level terms. Nicklas Bendtner initial attempt was parry by Al-Habsi. Andre Arshavin show his quick reflex to smack the ball back into the net.

Just before the break Nicklas Bendtner was put through by Arshavin and the Big Dane cooly tucked in the ball past Al-Habsi.

In the second half Arsenal just fail to kill off the game with the third goal. Maroune Chamakh and Andre Arshavin both were the guilty party missing great opportunity to score.

N'Zogbia clearly Wigan most dangerous player looks really menacing and causing lot of problems to the Arsenal defence. When the midfielder was sent off by referee Lee Robert it certainly looks the visitor will be taking all the three points.

But Wigan refused to back down as they hurled themselves back and were rewarded with the important equaliser. Arsenal claims for a penalty when Samir Nasri free-kick struck substitute James McArthur arms. It was exactly similar to Cesc Fabregas when the referee gave a penalty during the Arsenal vs Totenham match.
