CARLING CUP 2010 - SPURS 1 ARSENAL 4

ARSENAL advance into the fourth round when they wipe out Tottenham Hotspurs 4-1 in the Carling Cup at White Hart Lane last night.

Henri Lansbury had opened the scoring for the Gunners and Andrey Arshavin finished it with sub Robbie Keane nabbing a consolation for Spurs.

Midfielder Samir Nasri got two goals both from from the penalty spot in the second minute of extra-time and added a second five minutes later after Steve Caulker fouled substitute Marouane Chamakh in the box.

Arsene Wenger watched from the stands after being handed a touchline ban for his bust-up at the fourth official against Sunderland last Saturday.

Wenger said: "We deserved to win. We were tested mentally but still played outstanding football. Tottenham came back strongly and at 1-1 we were on the ropes but after that we took over again."
