ARSENAL SUFFERED A SHOCKED 2-3 HOME DEFEAT TO WEST BROMWICH ALBION

ARSENAL proud home record at the Emirates Stadium turns into dusts when newly promoted West Bromwich Albion send the home side packing with a great 3-2 win yesterday. To rub salt into the Arsenal wound was their unbeaten record too was shattered out by the Baggies.

The home side made one of the worst start in a match was a pale shadow of themselves. Arsene Wenger side was caught by surprised with the visitor playing a terrific attacking football and they deservedly taking the lead.

Baggies manager a former Chelsea player,  Roberto Matteo's side  should have easily taking the lead in the 36th minute in the first half when they were awarded a penalty after goalkeeper Manuel Almunia brought down Nigerian Peter Odemwinge in the box. But luckily for Arsenal, Christ Blunt penalty kick was saved by Almunia.

The thought of Arsenal would turn the tide in their favour after the break was never to be seen. It was the visitor who did the most damage to the Gunners when they went 2-0 up in just six minutes after restart.

Former Arsenal's player Jerome Thomas made a beautiful executed move on the left beating Bacary Sagna in the box before latching on the cross for Odemwinge to stab the ball into the net in the 49th minute for their first goal.

Jara celebrate scoring WBA second goal
Two minutes later a cleverly back-heel by Blunt send the Chileans international Gonzalo Jara through into the box and the defender wasted no time rammed straight at Almunia from an acute angle at the near post caught the goalkeeper off guard slip through his hand into the net.

Arsene Wenger's made a double substitution bringing on Jack Willshire and Tomas Rosicky for Abou Diaby and Emmanuele Eboue to add more bite in attack. But it was the visitor who made it 3-0 through Jerome Thomas in the 72nd minutes. Almunia awfully rushed out and was out of position saw Brunt cross the ball across the danger zone with Thomas who had a simple task blasting the ball into the roof of the net.

With a healthy 3-0 lead it was really an unbelievable scoreline for the visitor but Arsenal launch a late rally through midfielder Samir Nasri with two goals in the 74th and 90th minute but it was not quite enough to save the match.
