PODOLSKI FIRST PREMIER LEAGUE GOAL

LIVERPOOL 0
ARSENAL    2

ARSENAL came out on top at Anfield with a calculated 2-0 away win against Liverpool. Newly signings Lukas Podolski and Santi Carzola both turn in a great style to give Arsene Wenger's a memorable victory over newly appointed Liverpool manager Brendan Roger's side.

This is Arsenal first league win after two matches resulting in a stalemate against Sunderland and Stoke City.

The win did put a huge relief especially towards Arsene Wenger's new signings to have really giving an impact to the team.

Infact both combined well for the two goals with the German fed the Spaniard Cazorla but kept running 50 yards to take a beautifully-weighted return pass into space Glen Johnson failed to fill, picking his spot to squeeze a left-foot shot past Reina.

It was Arsenal’s first goal of the season and should have been followed with a second before the break. But Olivier Giroud, with Kieran Gibbs screaming for the pass that would have handed him an open goal, swung his left foot and sent the ball into the Kop.

Arsenal, however, were altogether more inventive, neat and sharp. Cazorla duly bagged his first Premier League goal in the 68th minute.

The Spaniard strolled away from substitute Jonjo Shelvey, played a pass to Podolski and took the return ball through the inside-left channel.

But Reina will be debited with another blunder, allowing Cazorla’s shot through him and only helping it find the target.

The purple strip is horrendous. The names have changed. But this is still recognisably a Wenger side.
