ARSENAL MARCH INTO THE FIFTH ROUND - CARLING CUP 2010

Theo Walcott score a double
ARSENAL second stringer wiped out Newcastle United 4-0 to moved into the fifth round of the Carling Cup 2010 at St. James Park last night. An own goal by the Magpies goalkeeper Tim Krul, Nicklas Bendtner and a double by Theo Walcott saw the Gunners advance into the quarterfinals for their eight successive time.

Arsene Wenger made nine changes to their side started with loud mouth Wojciech Szczesny in goal and Craig Eastmond in midfield. Newcastle's goalkeeper Tim Krul gifted  a comical goal in the stoppage time in the first half gave the visitor the lead which prove to be the turning point for home side defeat.

But injury to Kieran Gibbs as early in the 19th minute prove to be Arsene Wenger injuries worries as the defender was replaced by Bacary Sagna.

Arsenal's second was controversial and referee Andre Marriner ignored what looked like a blatant block by Nicklas Bendtner on Mike Williamson as Theo Walcott ran through to score in 53rd minute despite Newcastle's protest.

Even then there was nothing lucky or controversial about Arsenal's third and fourth goals it was typical  Arsenal goal and Bendtner struck in the 83rd minute when he cut inside and hit a right-foot curler.

And then two minutes from time, Walcott crowned his stunning performance when he ran through to beat Krul and complete the rout.
