ARSENAL BLAST AZ ALKMAR

ARSENAL show signs of becoming a new major force in European football when they blast AZ Alkmaar 4-1 in UEFA Champion League Group H match at the Emirates Stadium yesterday.

Cesc Fabregas who is in tremendous form lately once again proved why Arsene Wenger handed  over the captain's armband to the young Spaniard to lead the team this season. The midfielder repaid the faith by scoring a double, Samir  Nasri and Abou Diaby with one goal-a-piece completed the rout. Alkmaar got their consolation through subsitute, Jeremien Lens late in the match.

With the win, Arsenal head Group H with 10 points from 3 wins and a draw. With two games left  Arsene Wenger can afford to field his young Carling's Cup side a run for both matches before they face Manchester City in the quarterfinals.

After the match, Wenger described the present team look mature and capable enough to match The Invincibles Thiery Henry's side. He said, technically Arsenal dominated the match and tactically solid at the back.
Long live beautiful football - Arsenal way
